Southern Gold Coast Attractions

by | Jan 4, 2022 | Local Attractions

There are plenty of reasons to choose the southern end of the Gold Coast for a quiet coastal holiday. Away from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise, you’ll find the vibes are much more relaxed, and you can simply slow down and soak up the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

A few attractions within walking distance of our resort include Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Elephant Rock and Currumbin Rock, Superbee Honey World, and Surf World. The Palm Beach parklands are just a short drive away and boast the ever popular pirate ship playground, and plenty of wide open grassy space to run and play. You can learn more about our top local attractions to experience during your stay here, but here are some of our favourite animal encounters;

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Now, how about going to one of the Gold Coast’s most well-known tourist attractions? Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the best family vacation destination. Lorikeet Feeding, Pelican & Eel Shows, Blinky Bill’s Christmas Wish, WildSkies, Wildlife Hospital presentations, Aussie Scales & Tails, and Aboriginal Culture Show are the activities and shows available.

They also provide up-close encounters such as Koala Photography, Red Panda Encounter, and Dingo Walk, to name a few. If you enjoy a good challenge, check out their TreeTop Challenge, which requires you to complete 80 massive TreeTop Challenges, including 11 incredible ziplines. Also, please participate in the Wildlife Hospital Tour to learn more about the sanctuary and its mission.

David Fleay Wildlife Park

If you feel a little more adventurous, a short drive away you’ll find David Fleay Wildlife Park in Burleigh Heads. You’ll love chatting with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers that look after the park’s wonderful wildlife. See for yourself the incredible bridled nailtail wallaby, which was assumed to be extinct for 30 years. Experience thrills galore with the birds of prey show, and meet the many species of wildlife at the park, including crocs, koalas, kangaroos, emus and platypus.

Tropical Fruit World

What about going to Tropical Fruit World? Tropical Fruit World, formerly Avocadoland, has been connecting fruit farming with tourism since 1983. It is, in a sense, more than just a farm and a tourist attraction.

Tropical Fruit World is a great place to witness farming life and explore the 200-acre working farm that features over 500 unusual tropical fruits worldwide.

You can go to the in-house nursery, a retail shop with homemade products, and the onsite fruit market to buy fresh produce. And don’t miss out on their fully guided Plantation Safari whicn includes a fruit tasting show, as well as a wildlife boat cruise of the island recreation area, fauna park. Also, Tropical Fruit World offers workshops and specialty cultural experiences for everyone to enjoy.
